I assumed #Qanon kooks believe things the way I do: laced with anxiety and doubt, because I’m normal. Turns out even the WAY they believe makes no sense.
If ranchers want to know who’s really behind “cattle mutilations,” fine. The real culprits are quite obvious: It’s not Satanists. It’s the ranchers.
Everyone knows the story about the Hookman–but why? This redoubtable but stupid urban legend sticks around because, like devil myths, it has an agenda.
Every Satanist I know is a criminal. But why wouldn’t they be? Nobody can be naive enough to think there’s anybody who isn’t?
